Privacy policy

In short: Tabi Notes has no cookies, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. To show you the pages, a few services receive your IP address: the web host, the font service and, on the map page, the map service. Each is listed below.
1. Who is responsible

2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, your browser sends technical data that Cloudflare processes to deliver the site and protect it against attacks: your IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. There is a legitimate interest in delivering the website securely and reliably. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details: Cloudflare privacy policy.
3. Fonts
This site uses fonts from Google Fonts, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. To display the fonts, your browser loads them from Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Google says it does not use this data to build profiles or for ads.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. There is a legitimate interest in a consistent, readable design. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details: Google privacy policy.
4. Interactive map
Only the Map page loads background map images from Stadia Maps, Inc., USA. Your browser then sends Stadia Maps your IP address and the address of this website. No other page contacts Stadia Maps.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. There is a legitimate interest in showing an interactive map of the routes and places. Stadia Maps is based in the United States. For details, including how it protects data sent outside the EU, see the Stadia Maps privacy policy.
5. Currency setting in your browser
When you switch prices between yen, US dollars and euros, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (entry name tabi-cur) so the next page shows the same currency. It is not a cookie, is never sent to any server and contains nothing about you. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
6. Comments
The comment section is not switched on yet. No comment service is loaded and no comment data is collected. This policy will be updated before comments open.
7. Links to other websites
Articles link to other sites, for example Google Maps searches for restaurants and sights, photo sources on Wikimedia Commons and official transport or hotel pages. No data is sent to those sites until you click a link. After that, their own privacy policies apply.
8. Contacting me
If you email me, I use your email address and message only to reply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your message relates to a contract. I delete the conversation once it is finished, unless the law requires me to keep it.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you (Art. 15)
- Correct wrong data (Art. 16)
- Delete your data (Art. 17)
- Restrict how it is processed (Art. 18)
- Receive your data in a common format (Art. 20)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
- Withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3))
To use any of these rights, email hello@tabi-notes.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work.
10. Changes
This policy is updated when the website changes, for example when comments or new services are added. The date at the top shows the current version.
